Here's how to add a Telnet Server to your firmware.

• Extract the romfs
• Change /etc/inittab; add telnetd line after curacao startup to:

 # Startup the system
 ::once:/usr/curacao/curacao
 ::once:/usr/sbin/telnetd

• Replace the root password in /etc/shadow (or simply delete it, leaving ::)
• Repack then update the player
