How about we make this more interesting? Let's all vote on what new features we would most like to see in future firmware from Unicorn.
We've put together a list of several popular feature requests where members can vote on what they would most like to see in a firmware upgrade - by this we mean a real next-generation upgrade, not a bug-fix release!
Keep in mind that this is not an official Unicorn or Mvix forum, so we have no real control over what Unicorn choose to put into firmware upgrades, but surely if we could come up with a system that shows what we as users are interested in, then we could get the manufacturers to sit up and take note...
Please vote for your favourite feature in each category - there can only be one vote for each category, so consider each option carefully and make your vote count!
Feel free to follow the link for any feature and post your comments - if there isn't a link, create a new post.
My apologies that I'm not around any more - I've given away all my Mvix kit as it is no longer supported by the manufacturer.
I can be found on Mede8erforum.com should you want to get in touch. |

I don't see this feature request on the poll:
Web Interface

A torrant client on the MVIX would be nice.
If I knew I was going to live this long I'd of taken better care of myself

My mistake - I will include the 'Web Interface' feature in the next poll.
Consider that to be part of the NAS functionality in the Networking category. The 'Web browser' could also essentially be a 'Web Interface'.
I'll take all concerns and comments into consideration for the next poll - I would like to run a new one every month so everyone can vote again and we can see if there's a trend.
There are poll limitations of 8 choices per category with a maximum of 5 categories, so there will always be some features missing...

i just want re-authored ISO files to take you back to the folder when the movie finishes instead if sitting at a black screen forever.
When is the next firmware coming out? it's been a while.

Let's consider what it is about a 'web interface' that would be beneficial in order to put such a feature into perspective:* Logging into the Mvix player via the network using a browser to tweak/configure settings as one would a NAS box or router;
* Accessing the Mvix via the network using a browser as one would a web server/site to upload/download/play files;
* Having a web-based front-end allows for a skinnable and customisable interface;
* Adding new functionality and features requires less from a development perspective - such as adding a torrent client or web browser

I would say all of them for a full web interface, or some of them for a light/limited web interface.
A full "Web Interface" meaning the user will be able to control Mvix as if he was using the GUI interface.
A light/limited "Web Interface" meaning the user will have only limited access to the GUI interface features.
Also, Mvix GUI will need to be able to support different users logins and user priviliges like admin user and regular users.

So you're requesting a NAS server-like interface with limited & admin accounts and configurable features per account?
Are you wanting this feature to browse the Mvix settings and files from your PC?

Yes, that sounds good. If the Mvix GUI can browse the shared folder and files from different computers, then the Web Interface should be able too.
